The Atlanta Land Trust (ALT) has made great progress on our $11.1 million capital campaign, chaired by Meaghan Shannon-Vlkovic and Egbert Perry, since its launch in August 2021. Recent commitments from the Tull Charitable Foundation, the Georgia Power Foundation and the Joseph B. Whitehead Foundation (a Woodruff Foundation) bring the total funds raised to $9.7 million. These funds will expand homeownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income Atlantans through the development of approximately 120 units across three sites in the Oakland City and East Lake neighborhoods.
In support of this campaign, in March the CF Foundation signed a Donation Agreement for atwo-acre site in the East Lake neighborhood. ALT expects to receive the land disturbance permit from the city of Atlanta this month for the construction of The Avenue at Oakland City at 1091 Tucker Avenue.
Several scattered-site single-family homes are under development, including additional homes in the Grove Park and Pittsburgh neighborhoods.
We welcomed two new members to the ALT Board of Directors: Lisa Bennett, an ALT homeowner, and Chanel Zeisel, Assistant Director of Housing and Community Development with the city of Atlanta. We are excited to have these important stakeholders inform our decision-making.
